We often get asked if our crews are available for labour only jobs. It’s understandable: many do-it-yourselfers feel comfortable with the finishing but less so with the labour intensive digging it takes to install a quality fence.
Unfortunately we’re not able to provide labour only service at this time.
Why not?
Like most seasonal businesses when it’s our time of the year to be open we’re busy. Very busy. Our crews are going full-bore to satisfy the full installation orders we already have signed.
If we were to book them for labour only jobs we’d have to charge a price that would take into account the opportunity cost of jobs they aren’t doing, as well as the disruptions to the schedule they would cause. We’ve found that if we quote a reasonable number from a business perspective it looks distinctly unreasonable from a homeowner’s point of view. Rather than cause bad feelings, we’ve decided it’s better to not offer a labour only service.
What can I do?
We suggest you get in touch with a local handyman. Google or Kijiji can help you here. Even if they don’t do post holes or other fence related work they can point you towards someone who does for a price that’s reasonable and economical for both you and them.
