How do you angle a fence?

Angling a fence involves adjusting the direction of the fence line to accommodate the layout of the property or to achieve a specific effect. There are several different ways to approach it depending on the type of fence involved.

Chain Link Fences

The solution is simplest with chain link fences because the posts are round. By simply rotating the offset bands and rail end hardware on the posts, the fence line can be adjusted to the desired angle.

Iron Fences

Iron posts are typically square, so the hardware can’t be smoothly rotated like with chain link fences. Swivel brackets solve the problem. They can facilitate any reasonable angle because the rotating mechanism is on the bracket itself .

Swivel brackets are used to install iron fence panels at non-standard angles.

Vinyl Fences

Angling vinyl fences can be a bit trickier because of the routed system we use for them. But it’s definitely doable, even if it may require some custom cutting and fitting to achieve the desired result.

The angle is possible here because the rails are routed in at different levels.

Wood Fences

Because our wood fences are built from the scratch right on site they offer the most flexibility when it comes to angled sections. Methods can vary depending on the style, but generally the rails are cut at the desired angle and the fence is built on them with panel modifications at the posts if necessary.

A Final Word

If for some reason the above solutions aren’t in play, we can always install two posts where one would have been before and angle the respective fence lines off of them.
