This is probably the number one question we get and there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Timing is always a big issue during our busy season and the management of it takes up a big part of our day.
The lead time
We call the projected time until the start of your installation the lead time. It’s quoted in weeks when you sign (e.g. “your installation date is eight weeks out”). It’s only an estimate at this point.
Factors affecting lead times
The lead time is an estimate because quite a few variables can add uncertainty to the mix. Weather, material availability, labor availability, and location are a few of the factors that can affect it. Having said that, Andrea does a great job at keeping the schedule tight and on track. If there are any radical changes to it she’ll let you know by email.
Who’s job gets installed first?
Our installations run on a FIFO system. FIFO stands for First In, First Out. Very simply, if Alice signs her contract before Bob (“first in”), she’ll get her project installed before him (“first out”). Years of experience tell us this is the fairest and smoothest way to handle a busy installation season. You can read more about it here.
