Hi, I’m Andrea from Fence-All.
In this video, I’ll explain two important things to our customers:
- What they need to do to prepare for us before we arrive to install the fence.
- What they should expect on the morning of the first day of installation.
Preparing for Fence Installation
There aren’t many things to do, but I’ll walk you through each one:
-
Remove Items from Your Existing Fence:
If you have an old wood fence that we’re replacing, please remove anything attached to it. This includes bird feeders, garden trellises, or any electrical panels. The fence should be clear of attachments so we can take it down without damaging your property. -
Clear Brush on Both Sides of the Fence:
Please trim back any trees, hedges, or bushes that are up against the fence. We need about two feet of clearance on either side to safely remove the old fence and install the new one. -
Plan for Your Pets:
Most fence installations aren’t completed in a single day, so your backyard will be open overnight. If you have pets, plan how to manage them during this time, as you won’t be able to simply let them out as usual. -
Ensure Access to the Backyard:
We’ll need a place to park, ideally on the driveway, to have easy access to your backyard. If that’s not possible, please ensure the front of the house is clear so we can park nearby. This helps us transport materials efficiently and keeps the installation process on schedule. -
Mark Private Utilities:
Ensure that any private utilities, like irrigation systems or pool heaters, are marked out ahead of time. We need to know where these are located to avoid damaging them during installation.
What to Expect on Installation Day
Here’s what will happen on the first day of installation:
-
Confirm Fence Location:
The installers will ask where the fence is to be installed. It’s crucial that this is marked out ahead of time. We’re not surveyors, so you’ll need to know your property lines or where you want the fence. If we’re replacing an existing fence, it’s simple—just let us know to install the new one in the same spot. If it’s a new installation, clearly mark the area using paint, flags, or sticks. -
Provide Access to Water:
We’ll need water to mix cement for the posts. Usually, a garden hose in the backyard will suffice. Please ensure it’s accessible. -
Clear the Fence Line:
As mentioned earlier, make sure the fence line is clear of brush and trees. Also, consider mowing your lawn to give us a clear view of the ground’s elevation. This helps us install the fence as tightly to the ground as possible. -
Clean Up After Pets:
This might be awkward to mention, but if you have pets that relieve themselves in the backyard, please clean up before we arrive. It’s important for our team to work in a clean environment, and we appreciate your understanding.
Final Thoughts
By taking care of these details beforehand, you’ll help ensure that the fence installation goes smoothly and quickly. We won’t waste time on the morning of the installation dealing with unexpected issues, and you’ll be much happier with the entire experience.
