There are a few tricks of the trade to get it done.

1. Use Low-Voltage Deck Lighting Kits
These kits are designed for easy installation and often include discreet connectors and wires that tuck neatly under boards or along joists.

2. Run Wiring Beneath the Deck
The most common method is routing wires beneath the deck surface. This keeps them completely out of sight while allowing access for future maintenance.

3. Install Post Cap or Recessed Lights
Post cap lights and recessed stair or floor lights can be pre-wired during deck construction, with wires hidden inside hollow posts or routed through channels in the framing.

4. Solar or Battery-Powered Options
For areas where wiring is difficult, solar or battery-powered lights offer a clean alternative with no wiring at all.

The key is in the planning, and the result is a beautifully lit deck with very little to visually tip off where the power is coming from.
